A few aircraft ready to fly.

The Soo Modellers have a long history of float flying. For many years, there was a “sometimes annual” event  hosted by Jeanne Tubman in Soo Michigan. There are some photos of this event in earlier years in the HISTORY menu. The most recent gathering at this location was:

Our gracious host, Jeanne Tubman, held her “Sometimes Annual” Float Fly in Soo Michigan on Wednesday with an invite to all us “Canuck” Soo flyers to participate. The wind was “wild” that day, and swirling all over the place making it difficult to take off and land, but we weren’t going to let a little wind stop us from flying!

Pat Leonard, his brother Ken, Rino Zorzi, and Cec Marshall brought planes from the Canadian Soo, while Dennis Henry, Mike Mansfield, and Son Basil flew for the Michigan side. The only incident of the day marred the superb Taylor Craft of Dennis Henry.

We’d like to thank Jeanne and friends for a delicious BBQ and buffet style supper and a big thanks to Mike Mansfield for the ”pick-up” boat. Thanks gang!
