80 Years Ago Today (A COVID Rerun)

Exactly 80 years ago today on September 15, 1940, Ottawa native and last man out of the tunnel in the Great Escape, Keith “Skeets” Ogilvie participated in what many deem the defining moment of day’s aerial combat (and perhaps of the entire Battle of Britain) — the very public downing of a Dornier Do 17 bomber that was swarmed by Spitfires and Hurricanes from several squadrons. That day marked the apex of the arc of the battle and is celebrated today as Battle of Britain Day.
