Spring - 2016

May 1st

Sunday May 1st was very breezy for the "Official Field Opening" but by noon-hour had settled down enough to fly.

JP had a couple of flights with his "Ugly Stik" but couldn't seem to land without nosing over! NO the grass wasn't too long, he was using 1 1/4" wheels! Cec flew his "Twist" and new Sig Kadet LT40. The Kadet is done up in a catchy red starburst theme on white background. It's powered by a very sweet sounding OS 62 four stroke swinging a 12" x 8" prop. Steve Morin had his trusty Sig Kavlier and put in a couple of "wind assisted" snortin' flights.

After some hangar talk, we headed to the coffee shop to get the chill out of our bones!

Yippee! Flying season is here!

A small group gathered at the field on Thursday for some more early season flying, including Dave, Cec, Peter, Steve Dew, Larry, and Craig. Larry was able to get a couple of training flights in, Craig flew his UMX Yak 180, Cec had his Funtana and Kadet LT40 Trainer. After flying the crew retired to Country Style to review the evening's success.

May 19th

Eleven club members converged at the field for the inaugural Club Night Thursday. The weather was superb; there were three students flying with instructors and many members had the opportunity to fly, The bugs have also appeared, so future flyers should be ready for them!

Discussion this week included planning for the Dock Retrieval on Saturday (now complete). Upcoming tasks include getting the canopy ready (also done), moving the picnic tables, and finishing the fence construction.

June 9th - Club Night Thursday

A different "twist" this week, we had no students/trainees except for the two ducklings, "Peep and Quack", whom got lost and wandered into the pits looking for Mom! We did have a good turn-out of members, and several new aircraft made their first test flights. We were fortunate to have a visit from ex member, Peter Silvano, who is home from finishing his first year of engineering in Ottawa. I put him on the sticks and it was as if he never left!

As the sun settled in the west, and the black-flies settled on our skin, we decided to relive the evening at the "coffee shop".

Ahhh, another "good one"!

Cec

PS---The ducklings were successfully reunited with their "Mom"   Hurrah!
